TAMC TRAFFIC GARDEN DESIGN
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
​The main challenge of this project was to create a contemporary eye-catching and well-functioning traffic garden layout that effectively engages the target users and achieves The Transportation Agency’s for Monterey County (TAMC) intended goals.

Develop better and safer options for transporting children to school.

Educate children and the surrounding community on how to safely walk and bicycle around their community.

Encourage children to use active transportation such as walking and cycling in order to encourage a healthier lifestyle.

Envision a creative design for a traffic garden for Bay View Academy UpperCampus in Monterey, CA.

Survey the available production materials, technologies, and any features that can be incorporated to deliver a contemporary creative design.

Design high-fidelity mockups that illustrate the traffic garden layout and any physical props you may create to effectively engage the target users
STAGE 01: IDEATION
During this stage, the project site was surveyed on Google maps in order to obtain measurements and the visual layout of the Bay View Academy project site.

STAGE 02: ITERATION
The iteration stage allowed for more refined sketches based on the dimensions and proportions taken in the sight survey. TAMC requested the inclusion of a roundabout in the traffic garden design as well as one-way streets and a four-way stop.

STAGE 03: IMPLEMENTATION
High-fidelity mockups were created to visualize the traffic garden layout and any physical props that would be used to engage the target users effectively. Different mockups allowed for adjustments to be made based on feedback, ensuring that the final design met TAMC's objectives and requirements.
